New studios for Michigan

The state of Michigan continues to take the film world by storm with the completion of two film studios in the Detroit area due to happen this year. The studios represent a USD150 million investment and will create over 5,000 new jobs.

The USD86 million Detroit Center Studios will be based in the old MGM Casino buildings and the USD70 million Motown Motion Picture Studio is being built in a former auto plant.

Governor Jennifer Granholm's office said: "This is the direct result of the aggressive film incentive that the governor called for in her State of the State in 2008. The film incentives were designed to not just bring new film projects to Michigan, but also to grow an industry that will provide long-term job growth for the state."
