Bollywood action movie Bang Bang wraps Abu Dhabi location filming

Bollywood action movie Bang Bang has wrapped several weeks of location filming in Abu Dhabi. The production was a partnership between Fox Star Studios and twofour54 of Abu Dhabi’s Media Zone Authority, and was the first Bollywood shoot to come to the emirate city.

“Abu Dhabi’s popularity as a destination to produce films has grown beyond Hollywood to include Bollywood – this is another step forward in the emirate’s emergence as an international filming and production hub,” commented twofour54 head Noura Al Kaabi.

Al Kaabi added: “At our campus we are equipped to provide world-class production and post-production services and facilities, even to the industry’s biggest blockbuster films.

“We would like to thank the team at Fox Star Studios for entrusting us as the local producer for the film and to all the Abu Dhabi Government entities who assisted in the production, especially the Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Municipality, the Department of Transport, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence and Abu Dhabi Motor Sport Management. Their unparalleled logistical and on-the-ground support ensured a safe and secure execution of all movie stunts across all filming locations in the Emirate.”

Abu Dhabi offers a 30% filming incentive that has also been instrumental in attracting Hollywood productions such as the Fast & Furious franchise.

Bang Bang stars Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif and is loosely based on the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz 2010 action-comedy Knight & Day. Filming locations for Bang Bang included the Hyatt Capital Gate Hotel, the Emirates Palace, Yas Island and the Liwa oasis.

Dubai is under pressure to launch its own formal filming incentive, rather than the individually-negotiated packages that authorities have favoured in recent years.
