London-Rio+ Production Forum to boost UK-Brazil location filming

The London-Rio+ Production Forum will be held in London this autumn. Presented by Film London and the Barbican, the one-day event on 24 September will promote filming incentives in the UK and Brazil, and will encourage co-productions between the two countries.

Ten film producers from Rio de Janeiro will attend to meet with selected industry professionals from the UK.

British sales companies, distributors and producers who have suitable projects are being asked to contact Film London to express their interest in attending the forum.

The Brazilian producers will be introduced to all the advantages of filming on location in the UK. British delegates will get insight on the RioFilme and Rio Film Commission International Feature Film Partnership Platform.

There will also be a case study into how UK-Brazil co-productions can operate.

“Given London’s booming, world-class film industry and Brazil’s status as a fast developing economic powerhouse it’s only natural that we’re looking to forge ever stronger business relationships between our two film industries,” said Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission.

“When you couple the clear business benefits with the creativity and vibrancy of our respective countries you’re looking at an incredibly attractive prospect and this is sure to be a must-attend event for London sales companies, distributors, producers and post-production executives keen to make inroads into Rio’s film industry and, by extension, Latin America’s biggest economy.”

The event will mark of a four-day Brazilian film showcase at the Barbican in north London, called Rio+ Film Festival 2015.
