Vancouver boasts new state-of-the-art film studio

A new state-of-the-art production facility under the name of Martini Studios, will soon be open for business in Langley, Vancouver. The 150,000 square foot complex was unveiled earlier this week, with production work to begin on May 1st.

The studio includes eight sound stages and a back lot of around 100,000 square feet. Over 625 new jobs will be made available as a result of the studio.

Power Rangers, Film, Filming, Movie, Vancouver, Studio, Langley, Production, Industry, Locations, NewsStudio CEO, Gemma Martini states: "we’re hearing more and more producers are not able to secure studio space in the Lower Mainland, and we want them to know they have another deluxe, full-service facility that really caters to the needs of even the most demanding film, television or commercial projects."

With a production industry worth CAD2 billion each year, the presence of a new studio will allow British Columbia to attract more projects than ever before.

Martini continues: “we also want to make sure that production executives around the world know that we have invested greatly to bring the facility up to a high standard and intend to be in business long-term.”

BC's production industry is stimulated by a 28% tax credit incentive, given to projects that are shot primarily within the province. An additional 16% tax credit is available for locally procured post-production work.

BC'S recent projects include Power Rangers (pictured) and Liam Neeson's upcoming film, Hard Powder, which was initially denied access from shooting in Alberta's Icefields following environmental concerns.

Elsewhere in Canada, Ontario’s Canadore College recently announced construction on a dedicated post-production facility, taking advantage of the local 18% tax credit incentive on post-production work.
