Lanzarote stars in new commercial for Rolls-Royce’s Dawn Black Badge

For the launch of their new Dawn Black Badge convertible, Rolls-Royce has shot their latest commercial on the shores of Lanzarote with the help of Film!CanaryIslands. Los Hervidores was chosen as the main filming location for its ability to complement the dark colours of Roll-Royce’s latest car.

But as the shooting schedule dictated that it had to be done in February this year, Iceland would have been covered in snow. W Film approached us for location ideas in the Canary Islands, and were very impressed with the images we sent from Lanzarote. Despite having a really wild and remote look, Lanzarote is still part of Europe which makes the logistics and travel so much easier."

He continues: “Rolls-Royce was very nervous that the public would see the cars and release photos, before the official launch of the car (Dawn Black Badge). We decided to use a disused part of road that had been blocked off to traffic, as our base camp which gave us the space and privacy to prepare the cars for the road shooting.”

A Gyro-stabilised Flight Head V was also used to capture fast action shots, with the camera mounted on both a crane arm and a second vehicle in hot pursuit.

The Canary Islands have proven themselves to be a popular filming destination for productions of all sizes. While the Islands boast stunning locations in their own right, they can also double for places such as Morocco.

The Spanish Government recently decided to expand the Canary Islands’ production incentive by increasing the available tax rebate from 35% to 40%. A minimum spend of EUR1 million is required to access the incentive.
