The North Carolina Film Office reveals that state location filming in the first half of 2012 has already surpassed the figure for the whole of 2011. Nearly 40 different projects have set out plans to shoot, perhaps taking inspiration from major state showcase The Hunger Games.
Marvel’s Iron Man 3, JJ Abrams’ new TV series Revolution and established show Homeland are among the big-hitters in North Carolina at the moment that have collectively spent around USD300 million. The Governor extended the state’s generous filming incentive programme a few weeks ago.

Governor Perdue commented: “My top priority is creating jobs and the enhanced film credit has created record spending by production companies in this state and resulted in thousands of jobs. A local conservative group has described the filming incentive itself as “corporate welfare”, but the state made around USD60 million from The Hunger Games and is hoping Marvel will return for the upcoming Captain America sequel.
