China and South Korea agree filming co-production deal

China and South Korea have made a filming co-production deal meaning that features produced under the agreement will be released in each market as domestic projects. The move will help bypass international release restrictions in each country.

“When the final agreement is signed, it would pave the way for Korean films' advance to the Chinese movie market,” said the Korean Ministry of Culture: “It will also facilitate movie co-production, as well as co-operation in the field of special effects technology and exchanges of filmmaking staff.”

Transformers 4 will be among the next major Hollywood productions looking to crack the Chinese market through a co-production deal. The movie will film scenes on location in China through co-operation with China Movie Channel and Jiaflix Enterprises.
