British independent movie Jet Trash films on location in Goa

British independent movie Jet Trash has filmed on location in Goa in western India. Based on the cult travel novel Go by Simon Lewis, the film follows two young friends who escape London life for India, only to be followed by a vengeful gangster.

Filming took place almost entirely on location in southern Goa and in the Palolem region, an area popular among international backpackers.

“In order to make the most of the film's limited budget many of the scenes were shot in 'live' environments,” explains Co-Producer Tony Cordeaux of Goa Film Services.

“Two of the scenes required bustling nightclubs and many required busy market places and beaches. We shot these almost like a documentary rather than emptying the locations and filling them with extras.

“Not exactly guerrilla filmmaking as we had permissions and agreements with location owners and we also had a substantial crew with us. This presented us with a few production challenges as we had to manage cast, crew and equipment in some pretty hectic places but the production value was incredible as a result.”

India has a thriving production industry encompassing film, TV and advertising. Recent advertising highlights have included a Nike shoot from JWT India that shot all over the country and involved stitching together 1,440 different stills photos for the Make Every Yard Count campaign.

Internationally, India has a series of co-production agreements with countries around the world, with recent production including Salman Khan’s Kick in Poland and Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year in Dubai.
