Gangs of Lagos, Prime Video’s first African original movie, is set to be released on the streaming service on 7 April. The action crime-thriller, directed by Jáde Osiberu, follows a group of childhood friends navigating the complexities and dangers of their lives in Isale Eko, Lagos. Gangs of Lagos’ release is the display of Prime Videos commitment to its investment in Nigeria and the Nollywood film industry, and a dedication to telling thoughtfully made and authentic stories form the continent.

Willow creator Jo Kasdan teased the write up of Volume II despite cancellation rumours. The series, which is a sequel to the Ron Howard and George Lucas 1988 fantasy movie of the same name, is written up and ready for production, but is not likely to be released before the next year. The series which stars Warwick Davis, Buby Bamber and Ellie Cruz is shot on location across the idyllic countryside landscapes of Wales.

After a much anticipated wait, Creed III hit cinemas on Friday 3 March. The story continues for Adonis Creed as he battles with his past after the arrival of childhood friend Damian Anderson. Creed star Michael B Jordan also directs this recent instalment of the franchise, bringing the usual high energy, suspense filled fight scenes with the essence of his anime watching influence. Creed III opened with a knockout global box office of USD 100 million.

Screen Queensland support upcoming romantic comedy Love is in the Air

The Queensland Government through Screen Queensland is supporting the currently filming production of Love is in the Air, a romantic comedy starring Delta Goodrem. Produced by Bisbane-based company Jaggi Entertainment, the project is written by director Adrian Powers along with Caera Bradshaw and Katherine E. McPhee. 100% made in Queensland, Love is in the Air makes use of financial support of the region.

Netflix’s American Primeval to begin filming in New Mexico

New Mexico Film Office director Amber Dodson announced on 15 February that filming for Netflix’s newest series American Primeval will begin filming in New Mexico. Set to begin filming this month in and around the Santa Fe area,the action-adventure limited series will star Taylor Kitsch as lead character Isaac. With substantial employment of New Mexico natives, the production will be yet another Netflix collaboration with the state and another step on the development of New Mexico’s thriving visual industry.
