Amazon Studios and MACRO Film Studios partner for first look film deal

Amazon Studios announced their partnership with MACRO film studios on 14 September 2022 for a multiyear first look film deal. The deal will give Amazon the opportunity to be the first in the know of all feature film projects from MACRO,  giving the streaming platform the rights to then develop, package and produce those projects for Prime Video which is available in over 240 countries.

Olympian and Grammy Award-winner Savannah Leaf is set to release the coming-of-age story Earth Mama through independent entertainment company A24. Serving as writer and director to the production, the former volleyball champion will bring the depth and delicateness of her directorial perspective to the feature film screen. A release date is yet to be revealed.

With Black people representing approximately 15% of United States and London populations, equality seekers Change the Lens are calling for action amongst creative industry professionals to ensure their workforce reflects their audiences. As a collective of Black filmmakers, Change the Lens has made it their mission to eradicate the disproportionate skew existing today, that shows a limited number of Black creatives in roles across the commercial and music video industry. Through their pledge they are encouraging other industry leaders to join the efforts towards creating a more diverse creative sphere.
