BAFTA albert and Julie’s Bicycle have been awarded a total of GBP 586,755 of National Lottery funding over three years. This is part of the new BFI National Lottery Sustainable Screen Fund in support of all BFI National Lottery awardees in building environmental understanding and action on positive environmental change. Keir Powell-Lewis acts as head of environmental sustainability, managing the fund, related BFI work that aims towards minimising environmental impact in the sector and leading the BFI’s routemap to net zero.

The line up for the BFI and British Council’s GREAT8 showcase has been revealed. For its 6th year, the showcase will present UK feature films from upcoming filmmakers on the global stage for international distributors and festival programmers in the run-up to this year’s Cannes Marché. Screenings of unseen footage for the 8 new projects will be available from today.

Jamie Dornan reprises his role as Elliot in season two of mystery drama The Tourist which has started production in Dublin Ireland. In an effort to uncover Elliot’s roots, the series moves on from its former Australian outback setting. In addition to familiar faces such as Danielle Macdonald as Helen Chamber and Greg Larsen ad Ethan Krum, the new season will feature some new cast additions.

Scotland doubles for Russia in new Apple TV Tetris movie

Apple TV travelled to the streets of Scotland for the filming of their new Tetris Movie which hit the streaming platform 31 March. Capturing the dramas behind the creation of the popular game in 1980’s Moscow, the series stars Taron Egerton and Nikita Efremov, with  director Jon S Baird at the helm. GBP 500,000 funding for the project was invested by Screen Scotland.

Amazon Music celebrates 50 years of hip hop with cozy new campaign

Generational Queens, a film directed by Fenn O’meally through production company Smuggler, pays homage to 50 years’ worth of hip hop history. Capturing the moment when two teenage daughters discover their mother’s box of nineties memorabilia and in turn uncover a side of their mother they hadn’t known, the lyrics of Queen Latifah’s ‘U.N.I.T.Y’, which turns 30 this year, soundtracks the special moment. With the tag line ‘50 and Forever’, the advert solidifies the multi-generational impact of hip hop music.
