Oregon legislature increases film incentive programme

At the request of Governor Kulongoski, Oregon’s legislature has passed a bill expanding the Oregon Production Investment Fund. This legislation increases the rebate for productions in Oregon to 20% of goods and services paid to Oregon vendors and 16.2% of Oregon-based wages, including both Oregon and non-Oregon residents. In addition, there is no longer a per-production cap on the rebate amount and the minimum in-state spend requirement has been reduced from $1 million to $750,000. Recent Oregon productions include: “Untraceable” and “Feast of Love” – both Lakeshore productions; Gus Van Sant’s recent Cannes Film Festival award winner “Paranoid Park”, and “Into The Wild” produced and directed by Sean Penn.
