Work begins on New York studio

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and George Kaufman and Hal Rosenbluth of Kaufman Astoria Studios have 'broken ground' on Stage K of the new USD22 million film and television production studio in Astoria, Queens.

Stage K includes the construction of a 40,000-square-foot-facility. It will feature an 18,000 square foot sound stage along with 22,000 square feet of support space that will consist of dressing rooms, offices, prop rooms, makeup rooms and a carpentry shop.

Hal Rosenbluth, President of Kaufman Astoria Studios, said: “The new 40,000-square-foot stage and support space secures Kaufman Astoria Studios as the preeminent choice of facilities for production companies. It compliments everything we’ve constructed to date and is another chapter in realizing our vision for the studio as a complete complex.”
