AFACT report shows worth of Australian industry
A report commissioned by the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT) showed that in 2007, 50,000 Australians made their living in the film and television industry.
The report, produced by Access Economics, also showed that the industry's turnover for the year was AUS14.5 billion. It is estimated that the industry's final contribution to the Australian economy each year is in the region of AUS4.4 billion.
AFACT are hoping that the report will help them in their campaign to tighten anti-piracy laws and copyright law enforcement as it shows the true worth of the industry.
