Taiwan invests USD228 million in film industry

The Taiwanese government will inject USD228 million into its film industry over the next five years.

The government hopes that this will accelerate what is already a growing industry for the country. It is particulalry interested in increasing co-productions and improving Taiwan's relationship with mainland China.

Frank JK Chen, Director of the Department of Motion Picture Affairs at the Taiwan Government Information Office, said: “Once the policy is in place, we aim to triple the amount of subsidy available for international co-productions.”
