Fears for Irish Film Board

A Government appointed group has reported that significant savings could be made if the Irish Film Board was disbanded. An Bord Snip Nua, an influential cost-cutting body, has also suggested that the 481 tax break, which provided USD46.5 million to the industry in 2008, should be axed.

The report is part of an ongoing attempt to cut costs across the Irish Government's Art Department. An Bord Snip Nua believe an annual saving of USD32 million will be made if the Film Board is closed and its responsibilities given to another agnecy.
