New York state tax credit could be extended to 2015

New York’s existing USD420 million tax credit scheme could be extended through to 2015 following new information highlighting how the state’s industry has benefitted, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A report from New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says the programme helped provide employment for up to 63,000 New Yorkers through 2008, while the scheme is thought to have benefitted the state to the tune of USD7 billion between 2004 and 2008.

The number of jobs within the New York audio-visual industry has risen by nearly 15% over the same four-year period. The decision regarding the future of the tax credit scheme is scheduled to be made on April 1st.
