New Mel Gibson film starts shooting in Veracruz, Mexico

Mel Gibson’s latest film, currently entitled How I Spent My Summer Vacation, has begun shooting in the Mexican state of Veracruz. The production is being serviced by Sin Sentido Films.

The city’s Allende Ignacio prison is being used for shooting, which caused controversy during pre-production as 1,500 prisoners had to be transferred to accommodate set-building. Fidel Herrera, Governor of Veracruz, has announced that some of the sets will be donated to a museum once filming has finished.

Gibson is co-writer and star of the film that tells the story of a criminal who forms an unlikely friendship with a small boy as he fights for survival in a Mexican jail.
