Threatened transportation strike could affect LA location shoots
A strike being threatened by Los Angeles transportation workers could affect location filming scheduled for the Californian city and even further afield. Teamsters are currently calling for a 3% annual pay rise, rather than the 2% offered by producers.
The Teamsters are responsible for driving filming equipment, generators and trailers to filming locations. If the strike goes ahead, production could be shut down. Producers are already considering hiring replacement workers in case a strike is called – the recent writers’ strike cost the Los Angeles industry around USD25 million a day.
