Lionsgate TV show gets extra funding from Quebec
The second series of Lionsgate’s TV show Blue Mountain State has received an additional USD5.4 million in funding from the Societe generale de financement du Quebec (SGF).
Pierre Shedleur, SGF President and General Manager, said: “Shooting this second series yields interesting benefits, as production will take place in the greater metropolitan area [of Montreal], employ local labour and generate expenses estimated at over USD15 million.”
The payment from the SGF is part of a USD400 million deal formed in 2007 between Quebec’s provincial Government and Lionsgate. In return for making an aggregate investment of USD140 million towards Lionsgate’s production costs for Quebec, the studio agreed to foot the remaining USD260 million.
