HBO to film Sarah Palin drama on location in Maryland with Julianne Moore

Cable channel HBO will film scenes for new political drama Game Change on location in Maryland. The TV movie will focus on the 2008 US general election from the Republicans’ point of view from the moment when Sarah Palin was announced as John McCain’s running mate.

HBO has a history of location filming in Maryland, having shot critically-acclaimed TV shows The Corner and The Wire there in recent years. Around 160 crew members are expected to be hired locally. Julianne Moore will star as the controversial Sarah Palin.

We’ve had great experiences filming in Maryland. The state offers a strong local base of talented crew and actors, and we are very grateful for the generous co-operation of the Governor and the Film Office.

Len Amato, President of HBO Films, said: “We’ve had great experiences filming in Maryland. The state offers a strong local base of talented crew and actors, and we are very grateful for the generous cooperation of the Governor and the Film Office.”

Maryland offers a 25% rebate to film productions spending at least USD500,000 in the state.
