Wes Anderson filming Moonrise Kingdom on Rhode Island with Bruce Willis and Bill Murray
Wes Anderson has begun directing stars including Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton on Rhode Island. Moonrise Kingdom plans to film on state-owned property until mid-June.
The production is scheduled to film today in Long Pond, before heading to locations including Lincoln Woods State Park and Fort Wetherill later in the month. A location fee of USD1,500 has been negotiated for each full day of filming.
Rhode Island offers a transferable tax credit of 25% and Moonrise Kingdom will be spending around USD15 million in the state.
John Schamus, Chief Executive Officer of Focus Features, said: “One of the world’s most distinctive filmmakers, Wes crafts witty and emotionally affecting pictures. The stellar cast will bring his and Roman [Coppola’s] fanciful script to life, and audiences will enjoy their trip back in time to this Kingdom.”
