Tarantino plans New Orleans location filming for Django Unchained with Leonardo DiCaprio
New Orleans is pencilled in to host the shoot for Django Unchained, the next film from Quentin Tarantino. Louisiana’s generous incentive scheme has made it one of the leading production centres in the US, with New Orleans behind only Los Angeles and New York for filming activity.
Katie Williams is Director of Film New Orleans: “This is a high-profile project with great talent and an acclaimed director. Films of this calibre have a powerful impact on our local economy and reflect the confidence of producers and studios who continue to choose New Orleans as a filming destination. Django Unchained is just one of the many high-profile projects we expect to film in New Orleans next year.”

Tarantino has described the project as a ‘Southern’ in that it’s set in the Deep South but will be made with the sensibilities of Sergio Leone’s spaghetti Westerns. New Orleans has hosted a lot of big-budget, high-profile films recently, including Green Lantern and The Expendables, as well as the upcoming Battleship and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Louisiana has a 30% transferable tax credit and a recent study found the state makes USD5.71 for every dollar awarded as a credit.
