AFCI head Martin Cuff discusses the Locations Show 2012

The AFCI (Association of Film Commissioners International) Locations Show 2012 will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center on 15th and 16th June. AFCI head Martin Cuff is looking forward to a show where a major theme will be the supply of relevant information for film companies.

Cuff explains: “The way film commissions distribute information about themselves has obviously changed dramatically over the last few years - another major part of the film commissions’ job is to make it ridiculously easy for filmmakers to source a lot of the information they require from the internet without the need for face-to-face contact.

“That kind of changes the dynamic of the old Location Trade Show and we've been really looking hard at the changes we needed to make in order to move forward.”

A key element of this year’s show will be its alignment with the ten-day Los Angeles Film Festival (LAFF). This enables the Locations Show to be part of LAFF’s education sessions, while also benefitting from the event’s marketing strategies and plugging into Los Angeles’ thriving independent film community through Film Independent.

We'll be hosting a range of presentations, panel discussions, product launches and events that are directly aimed at production, rather than film commissions.

The Locations Show is presented as a strong international element around LAFF and there are the obvious benefits of working alongside an event that’s routinely attended by some 90,000 people.

Cuff adds: “We'll also be hosting a range of presentations, panel discussions, product launches and events that are directly aimed at production, rather than film commissions. We'll continue to introduce them to the USD2 billion of services and support that film commissions contribute to the global film sector, and we're specifically looking at ways we encourage networking and relationship-building.”

The Location Guide will have a presence at the show in June, so we’ll see you there!
