CFP-E and APA heading to Intercontinental Advertising Cup in Istanbul

The Commercial Film Producers of Europe (CFP-E) and the UK’s Advertising Producers Association (APA) will be in Istanbul tomorrow and Friday (26th and 27th January 2012) for the Intercontinental Advertising Cup (ICAC). It’s the third year in a row that the Turkish city is hosting.

ICAC partners with several of the world’s major advertising festivals and is designed to recognise what it describes as “locally-inspired creativity” in commercial production. The event was set up in 2007 by organisers of ADFEST, Golden Drum and FIAP (Festival Iberoamericano Publicidad) and it also involves the Art Director’s Club of Europe. Entries must have been previously shortlisted in some way by at least one of these festivals.

The idea is to collect the best of the best from four continents, judged and selected by the regional juries.

Jure Apih, CEO of Intercontinental Advertising Cup

Jure Apih is the Chief Executive Officer of ICAC: “The idea is to collect the best of the best from four continents, judged and selected by the regional juries. The Cup jury members come from regional festivals and are some of the world's most awarded Creative Directors.

“They are able to recognise the local spirit of the best entries, too, and they have the authority to relate it to the others. The judging process is therefore a lot fairer and guarantees an equal opportunity to every entry, regardless of its origin.”

This week’s event will also be attended by members of CFP Hungary, which comprises Hungarian companies Pioneer, Strawberry Films, Futurefilms, Filmpositive and Laokoon.
