Doctor Who films on location in New York City
Hit sci-fi series Doctor Who has been filming on location in New York City for the first time. Usually the show’s based in Cardiff in Wales, but in recent years it’s been venturing further afield on location shoots, perhaps as a sign of the show’s international success.
The BBC states: “The cast and crew, including Executive Producer and lead writer Steven Moffat, Executive Producer Caroline Skinner and Producer Marcus Wilson are currently in New York shooting action for a forthcoming episode and America's reaction to the Doctor Who team has been as warm and enthusiastic as ever!
“Scenes have been shot in East Manhattan, Central Park and appropriately enough, the Time Lord was also spotted in Times Square.”

Although the show’s been set in the US plenty of times over the years, the first US location shoot didn’t happen until 2010 when the production filmed key scenes in Utah. Filming on the current season has already involved a trip to a Western-themed frontier town in the Almeria region of Spain.
