TLG prepares for Iceland scout with Dark Knight Rises and Bourne Location Managers

The Location Guide will be in Iceland next week on a scout with experienced Location Managers Dow Griffith and Ilt Jones. TLG will be investigating what the country has to offer and how it can inspire filming industries across the planet.

Filming locations around Reykjavik in south-west Iceland will be the main focus of the trip where Darren Aronofsky recently filmed biblical epic Noah with Russell Crowe. The scout will involve servicing company Sagafilm and will also venture further east to locations in Vatnajökull National Park.

Nick Goundry is TLG’s Web Editor: “Iceland is at the centre of things in the northern hemisphere. Its raw landscapes, solid infrastructure and competitive filming incentive programme are a potent combination appealing to commercials, features and music videos.

“We’ll be getting up close and personal with the people who make it all happen. It’s great to be travelling with Dow Griffith and Ilt Jones, both of whom are vastly experienced Location Managers and have worked on several of the biggest features of the past few years.”

Recent productions heading to Iceland have included historic feature Nova Zembla (see photo above), HBO’s Game of Thrones, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and eye-catching commercial work from the likes of Honda. Look out for Nick’s in-depth report on the TLG blog in the coming weeks.
