Ironclad sequel to film on location in Serbia doubling for English countryside

A sequel to 2011 historic drama Ironclad is scheduled to film on location in Serbia, doubling for the English countryside. Ironclad: Battle for Blood will be based at PFI Studios in Belgrade and will also film exteriors at various historic forts and ruins on the Danube.

Fortresses at Kalemegdan (above), Maglic and Golubac will be among the Serbian locations double for medieval England.

Milos Djukelic’s Red Production is servicing the shoot locally: “All the heads of department and crew are local, which proves how developed the film authors and industry here in Belgrade has become. We are thrilled to have brought this international production to Serbia.”

Serbia launched a 15% filming incentive in 2011. It was a year-long pilot scheme and wasn’t renewed for 2012, but a 20% rebate will be available again from January 2013.

Film in Serbia is calling for a more accessible EUR500,000 minimum spend, rather than the EUR2 million set by the Government in 2011. A decision is expected in the next few weeks.
