UK TV filming tax credit targets production boost from 1 April 2013
The UK’s TV filming tax credit will be launched on 1 April 2013 and is designed to bring more high-end TV productions to Britain, while also keeping shows like Game of Thrones. Productions spending at least GBP1 million for each hour of television will be eligible for a 25% credit.
“This is fantastic news for the industry,” says Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of the British Film Commission and Film London: “Building on the success of the film tax relief, the British Film Commission is already working hard with our partners both here and in the US to ensure that the UK has as much success in attracting major international TV production as we do in attracting major international features.”
The new tax credit will help the UK compete with international filming locations like South Africa, Ireland and Eastern Europe.
