Reno Tahoe Studios could boost location filming in Nevada

Reno Tahoe Studios has opened in Reno, Nevada, in the south-west US, and could help boost location filming in the area. Set up by the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA), the facility offers six stages and office space spanning 300,000 square feet.

“We’ve brought in film and TV producers and toured them through the facility, and they told us it’s better than what they use elsewhere,” RSCVA President and CEO Chris Baum told Northern Nevada Business Weekly: “There’s also catering on site, offices and break-out rooms.”

Baum added that several producers were waiting to see if Nevada introduces location filming incentives before committing to a shoot at Reno Tahoe Studios.

At the moment the state doesn’t offer any production tax credits but is considering setting up a USD50 million annual film fund for a rebate of up to 27%.
