Lithuania moves closer to launching national location filming incentive

Lithuania has moved a step closer towards a national location filming incentive. An amendment has been approved by the government and will soon be subject to a parliamentary vote.

“Latvia is the only country among our neighbours that has a similar tax exemption and with which we currently compete,” says Jūratė Pazikaitė, Director of Vilnius Film Office: “It still has a competitive advantage because such an incentive is already in effect."

“After the approval of this amendment," Pazikaitė adds, "Vilnius would become a great centre of attraction for films from both Hollywood and European countries.”

The Vilnius Film Office was set up in early 2012 to provide location filming resources in the Lithuanian capital. Launching a filming incentive would be another positive step towards raising Lithuania's profile in the European production industry.
