Dolphin Tale sequel to film in Florida

A sequel to hit 2011 family film Dolphin Tale will return to film on location in Florida this autumn. The first film told the true story of injured dolphin Winter, who was nursed back to health in a Florida aquarium with the use of an artificial tail.

Dolphin Tale spent nearly USD20 million locally and went on to become a massive box-office success. It was filmed on location at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium near Tampa in western Florida, which will also be the main location for the sequel.

“It’s exciting that Dolphin Tale 2 will be filmed here in Florida,” said Florida’s Governor Rick Scott: “Today’s announcement will create more economic activity and opportunities for families living in Pinellas County. This exciting news builds on the economic momentum that Florida is currently experiencing.”

Florida offers a base filming tax credit of 20% and Dolphin Tale 2 will get an incentive payment of USD5 million.
