Pinewood Shepperton boss reiterates need for strategic expansion

Pinewood Shepperton’s chief executive has reiterated the need for strategic global expansion. Ivan Dunleavy also said that the studios must continue to offer world-class filming facilities in order to continue boosting the UK economy.

“The Pinewood brand is very well respected within the sector around the world,” Dunleavy told CNN International’s Marketplace Europe: “What we have as a strategy to extend that brand is to look at regions of the world where we’re not necessarily competing with Pinewood in the UK, but where we can offer the services and efficiencies ... to film and TV producers, and anyone else that’s in the screen-based industry.”

Pinewood is involved with a new venture in Georgia in the US that will be called Pinewood Atlanta Studios. The brand is also exploring business opportunities in China through a deal with Seven Stars Media Limited.

The requirements of our clients and film productions all around the world has gotten bigger over the years, not smaller.

“We have to be efficient,” Dunleavy added: “We have to provide technology that makes the production process slicker, we have to be on our toes in terms of providing services and providing unique facilities which, when clustered together, create a competitive offer for our customers who have the choice of anywhere in the world to go to.
