Royal Canadian Mounted Police TV series planned for Yukon in Canada

A new reality-TV series following the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Yukon, Canada, is being planned by a New York-based production company. True Entertainment has experience in the genre, but the shoot is causing controversy locally.

“There are a lot of stories about policing in big cities, but not as many in a place where there are so few people and so much wilderness,” True Entertainment’s president Glenda Hersh told the Canadian Press: “It's really an opportunity to show how policing works and what the RCMP are doing [like] search-and-rescue stories and good policing ... We really are not looking to create something that is going to make anyone feel uncomfortable.”

Plans for the new show have faced criticism regarding the merit and true educational value of reality-television, but the series has been officially authorised and the RCMP will approve each episode ahead of transmission.
