New atomic bomb drama series Manhattan to film on location in New Mexico
New TV drama Manhattan will film on location in New Mexico in the coming months. The series will tell the story of the infamous Manhattan Project, which led to the creation of the atomic bomb in Alamos, New Mexico, in World War II.
“We feel Manhattan has all of the elements to make for a provocative and memorable series and are excited to have the support of Skydance and Lionsgate as WGN America continues its rapid expansion toward year-round original programming on the network,” said Matt Cherniss, President/GM of WGN America and Tribune Studios.
New Mexico’s television industry has been put firmly on the map in recent years by the huge success of acclaimed crime drama Breaking Bad, which comes to an end in the next few weeks. Upcoming TV dramas The Night Shift and Killer Women are both doubling the state for Texas locations.
The success of Breaking Bad drove an increase to New Mexico’s television filming incentive earlier this year, with productions now able to apply for a 30% rebate.
