Los Angeles filming locations close as federal government shuts down

Federally-run Los Angeles filming locations have closed for business following the partial government shutdown in Washington, DC. Politicians in the two houses of Congress failed to agree a new budget, leading to closures at national parks and museums.

“Due to the Federal government shutdown, the Angeles National Forest, LA River, Sepulveda Dam (below), the West Lost Angeles VA Medical Center and all other Federal locations have been placed on indefinite hiatus for filming,” said FilmLA.

The houses of Congress in Washington, DC, are deeply divided. Democrats control the Senate and Republicans control the House of Representatives.

One of the main sticking points of the budget crisis has been President Obama’s new healthcare plan, a flagship policy of his administration. Conservative Republicans have long been bitterly opposed to the healthcare changes proposed and have demanded that funding for the policy be withdrawn from the new budget.
