Berlin prepares for Ciclope International Festival of Craft 2013

Advertising professionals from around the world will be heading to the Ciclope International Festival of Craft 2013 this week in Berlin from 6-8 November. The festival focuses specifically on celebrating the craft of advertising production and will take place at the KINO International.

Over three days a series of panels will deliver talks and seminars on the subject of advertising craft and special showcases will offer an insight to some of the top recent campaigns. Those with pre-booked tickets to the Fresh Market event will have an opportunity to network with top advertising agencies. The Location Guide will be moderating a seminar on the morning of 8 November discussing the changing role of locations in advertising.

“We are extremely excited for our headline talks, from Julian Frost and Sebastian Strasser,” says Francisco Condorelli, Ciclope’s Founder and Director: “Sebastian is a director with a huge amount of experience and accolades to his name – he’s won over 60 international awards, Lions at Cannes, Gold at the D&Ads (Design & Art Direction).

“Julian is the ‘new kid on the block’, a fantastic animator and director. He said recently he didn’t even realise he was a director until someone told him that’s what he’d done with Dumb Ways to Die! He’s a very interesting guy and I’m very excited to see his talk.”

Yvonne Chalkley is Executive Deputy Head of Content for TV in the UK with top agency AMV BBDO and praises Ciclope’s “global aspect”. She will be among the individuals discussing the Twinings: Gets You Back To You campaign and how the project involved a combination of painted animation and three-dimensional elements.

“Ciclope is very important as it wants to showcase good creative from around the world,” Chalkley comments: “It is one of the smaller festivals but concentrates on what is important - showcasing the work - and it’s growing each year.

“It also gets a good selection of judges from around the world and from different areas of expertise. This year in Berlin a lot of companies are coming out to attend and listen to the talks. It is also great for supporting a lot of young good creative people and also directors, production companies and post-production companies.”
