Drama miniseries The Kettering Incident to film on location in Tasmania

New miniseries The Kettering Incident will film on the Australian island state of Tasmania, south of the country’s mainland. The eight-part AUD15 million production will be written by Tasmanian writer Victoria Madden and will be the highest-profile shoot in the region since The Hunter.

“The Kettering Incident is the biggest television series ever to be filmed in Tasmania,” said Lara Giddings, who is Tasmania’s Premier and also Minister for the Arts: “It will be a game-changer for the Tasmanian screen industry and will have long-term benefits in building the reputation of our local screen industry and supporting high-value jobs.

“The Kettering Incident will create training and job opportunities for around 50 cast and 50 crew, and will also provide flow-on benefits for local businesses including equipment hire, caterers, and accommodation providers.”

“The Tasmanian Government, through Screen Tasmania, has invested one million dollars in this series, which will result in around five million being injected into the Tasmanian economy.”

Brian Walsh is Executive Director of Television at the Foxtel Network, which will screen the miniseries in Australia: “The compelling story, coupled with the landscape and surroundings of Kettering will make this a bold new Australian drama series, the first in Foxtel’s history to be set in Tasmania."

The Kettering Incident is the biggest television series ever to be filmed in Tasmania.

Tasmania has built a small but distinct production industry over the past decade that’s been largely built around documentaries and animation. Higher-profile features have included The Hunter (above), which tells the story of a man commissioned to hunt the last Tasmanian Tiger.
