On location at the film friendly Le Parc Suite Hotel Los Angeles with Alex Canas

Ahead of the AFCI Locations Show, The Location Guide will be dedicating its news section from April 11th to 15th entirely to articles about filming in the West Coast of America. Following on from yesterday’s interview with FilmL.A. President Paul Audley, we delve into LA’s hospitality sector with Alex Canas of Le Parc Suite Hotel.

How did you become involved in the hotel business?

I went to college for hospitality management and fell in love with the dynamic atmosphere of the industry. I learned a lot from previous colleagues with whom I have worked in the LA area and jumped when the opportunity arose to be a part of the Le Parc team.

What is your role at Le Parc?

Working with producers, film and TV crews and talent is one of my main focuses here at Le Parc. My other focus entails transient business in the area being fashion companies, design firms, start-ups and many different types of business ventures that travel to Los Angeles.

Tell us about La Parc Suite Hotel.

Le Parc Suites hotel is a boutique all suite property comprised of 154 chic suites each with their own private balconies, where guests can enjoy all the comforts of home with spacious rooms with living areas, fully-stocked kitchenettes, as well as fireplaces and two high definition TV’s. Le Parc Suite hotel is the choice for entertainment guests as we are removed from the L.A. bustle, ensuring peace and privacy. However, we are still located near Hollywood and top notch studios located throughout the area. Central L.A. locations such as Beverly Hills, Sunset and Santa Monica Boulevard are also within a reasonable distance.

What makes the Le Parc particularly ‘producer friendly’ and why do productions keep coming back to stay?

Le Parc is certainly film crew and talent friendly as we offer full amenities, easy access parking and bus parking options if needed. Our rooms dual not only as sleeping rooms but also great locations for filming interviews, hair and makeup set up, wardrobe fittings, production offices, casting facilities and photo shoots. Le Parc also offers breakfast package options for crews, early and late check in options and flexibility for the ever changing world of production.

Obviously all producers are interested in room rates for long duration production stays. Do you negotiate rates on a production by production basis?

We negotiate longer term stays and base rates on length of stay, availability and demand throughout the city. Le Parc offers production/film discounts that are a percentage off of our best available rates; the best part about this discount is that there are no black-out dates throughout the year. For group inquiries of 10 rooms or more we put together special group rates to get you the best discount available. Should you wish to book, reach out to the hotel directly or send us an email. We’re always happy to help and offer our discounted production rates!

Do you allow productions to ‘shoot and stay’ at Le Parc?

We are ‘shoot and stay’ friendly. If you let us know what your specifications are we’ll do our best to facilitate.

Do you have a high and low season?

High and low seasons vary throughout the year as Los Angeles is always a hot travel location. Summer and Award Show Season are among our high season and low season tends to vary throughout fall and winter. My recommendation would be our winter season when we typically have more flexibility with our rates.

Do you offer any discounts to entertainment professionals interested in using the hotel for personal leisure breaks?

Certainly! We honour our production discounts for those who seek to travel for personal leisure breaks. Should they wish to book they can reach out to me directly and I can help set that up.

Lastly, what are some of your favourite places local to the hotel?

Being central in Los Angeles is great but if you would like to know some of my favourite places in walking distance from Le Parc then I have plenty! We have multiple coffee shops nearby; just down the street from us are Alfred Coffee and the ultra popular Urth Cafe. One of my favourite pizza spots is Vito’s Pizza, only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel and they have delicious thin crust pizzas in case you need a quick fix.

West Hollywood is known for its vibrant night life and restaurant scene as well as its shops. Just across the street from Le Parc you will stumble upon the E.P & L.P Rooftop, a hip new spot that locals and visitors have been flocking to with great trendy drinks and great views of the city. If shopping is more your cup of tea then you’re in luck, we are very close to the infamous Beverly Centre and all the high-end shops on Melrose and Robertson Boulevards. Le Parc is definitely a fantastic location that’s got something for everyone just a short walk outside the door.
