straight 8 shootout Cannes 2019 announce line-up
Tickets are now on sale for straight 8 shootout Cannes 2019. Presented by the APA and Cinelab London, the straight 8 shootout premiere returns to Cannes for the fourth consecutive year with fifteen teams entering from creative companies worldwide.
straight 8 shootout is a company-to-company showdown to produce the best 2.5 minute film on Super 8 without editing or post-production, seeing it for the first time at its premiere in Cannes.
The Cannes 2019 premiere will take place 11 am on June 20, with a 10 am free breakfast included for ticket-holders at the Cinema Les Arcades, 77 Rue Felix Faure, Cannes. For those unable to make it to Cannes, a London premiere will take place on Friday June 28, Regent Street Cinema. Tickets are on sale now at straight8.net/shootoutcannes2019
With no creative brief to adhere to, every team have really gone for it in a bid to win the showdown in Cannes and donate prize money to their selected charity. Juha-Matti Nieminen, Executive Producer of production company Directors Guild from Helsinki, Finland comments “what could go wrong? Basically everything...Compared to our daily job on commercials where our aim is to minimize the possibility of failure, we’re so excited about straight 8 being all the time right next to absolute failure”. The team from London production company Rock Hound agree, saying "increasingly clients are getting fearful of pushing the limits so here’s a chance to get a bit cheeky".

A welcome breakfast for entering teams and ticket-holders will be held from 10am at the cinema - hosted by Madam Films, a long time supporter and first time sponsor of straight 8 shootout. In partnership with charity cycle ride The FireFlies Tour, GBP5 from every ticket sold for the premiere will go towards their fundraising for Bloodwise.
