Emerging from lockdown: the view from Iceland with film commissioner Einar Hansen Tómasson

The Location Guide is planning a series of Zoom interviews that explore how and where production is restarting following the pandemic shutdowns. We‘re delighted that our first guest is Icelandic Film Commissioner Einar Hansen Tómasson.

Iceland – which has hosted a wealth of productions such as Game of Thrones, Star Wars and Black Mirror – is particularly of interest because it is one of the first countries where production has started rolling again.

Einar tells makers editor Tim Dams how the country has managed to open up so soon, and what it has learned about safely making TV, film and commercials in the coronavirus era.
