Dominican Republic announces film studio developed by Vin Diesel

The state-of-the-art facility will be located on Bergantín beach, Puerto Plata. Vin Diesel's One Race Films will develop the modern studios. 

President Luis Abinader identified that opportunities for talent, investment and tourism that would come to The Dominican Republic with a new studio development. "Today we are interested in going further to take advantage of the advantages of this industry and enhance its economic contribution through its links with other sectors, mainly tourism," said the president. “We want Bergantín to go down in history as a comprehensive, innovative and sustainable destination. And what better way to integrate the film industry into this new proposal, than from the hands of the biggest? ", added the president, referring to Diesel.

Abinader specified that all this must be supported by public policies that allow the development of talent and investments in support industries. "We have the courage that governments must have to do it," he added. “That is why today we begin the first steps with the best advisers. Vin Diesel and One Race Films have everything we look for in a good alliance: experience, vision, but, above all, love for the country. Vin is a fan of our land and its people”.

The Dominican Republic is a popular filming destination with a 25% transferable tax credit is available to any project spending over USD500,000 on production in the country.

During the pandemic, the close proximity to the US proved beneficial for the Caribbean island’s production sector. Recent productions in the country include Shotgun Wedding starring J.Lo, Paramount Players’ canine adventure Arthur the King starring Mark Wahlberg and M. Night Shyamaman’s Old, a thriller about a family holiday to a secluded beach.
