Advertorial: Why Should You Film in Portugal?

The Portugal Film Commission's aim is to promote the internationalisation of Portugal as a filming destination.

The Portugal Film Commission is (PFC) also charged with supporting cinema and the wider audiovisual industry.

It is a Portuguese Government Culture and Tourism project created in 2019 after the introduction of a fund to support tourism and cinema.

Portugal also created one of the most competitive incentive systems in Europe in 2018: a cash rebate that applies to film and TV with the minimum qualified Portuguese production expense (QPPE) of EUR500,000 for fiction and animation and EUR250,000 for documentaries and post-production.

The PFC can also help all producers - national and international - who need assistance in the authorisation process for filming in Portugal. This is a simple process as we have a direct links with regional film commissions, city councils, and many other public and private entities.

We also have an extensive location and production guide and databases of the various technical and logistic service providers.

The PFC seeks to bring more and greater international filming to Portugal as well as creating the conditions for the Portuguese film and audiovisual industry to thrive in today's challenging times. We want Portugal to partner with great productions and studios.

We also want everyone who can benefit from these activities and our work to see us as a partner whether they are international producers, investors, national producers, municipalities, communities, schools or cultural facilities.

Our mission is to promote Portugal in all its diversity.
