The Location Guide Round-up 2021

And... cut! 2021 was another busy year for the team at The Location Guide. Despite having to negotiate numerous hurdles related to the pandemic and beyond, we are very proud to have served the global production community in a variety of meaningful ways.

For its seventh edition, FOCUS was arranged in a new hybrid format. Two days of in-person networking at the Business Design Centre in London (7th to 8th December) ran alongside an extended digital platform (7th to 10th December), building on the popularity of the virtual version from 2020. Overall, a record 118 countries participated in the 2021 instalment, with over 3,000 professionals – including visitors, exhibitors and international delegations – from all sectors of the creative screen industries getting involved live and online.

Capping off all the hard work at FOCUS, the makers and shakers Awards 2021 proved to be a wonderful evening. We celebrated the continued success of film producers worldwide at the iconic BAFTA Piccadilly on Wednesday 8th December 2021. The event was hosted by the outstanding Chloe Petts, a witty comedian and diehard Crystal Palace fan who kept attendees thoroughly entertained – and slightly scared to be her next victim! Our sponsors Neom, CinemaTech, Maui County Film Office and Ouarzazate Film Commission from Morocco made this special night possible. A full list of the winners is available here.

Finally, our team were exceptionally pleased to publish the latest edition of makers, our specialist magazine offering real insight into global film production. In makers 08, we explore who bounced back from lockdown alongside Croatia and the Dominican Republic, why independent film found it hard to negotiate the absence of cinemas and film festivals, and how the next wave of digital entrepreneurs within the screen industries are turning to TikTok and Zoom with aplomb. The digital version is available here and you can click here to order your free copy.

Take care, enjoy your mince pies, and have a relaxing, rejuvenating, well-deserved break,

The Location Guide
