Entries now open for makers & shakers Awards 2022!

The Location Guide, makers magazine and the FOCUS show are calling for entries to the makers & shakers Awards 2022. Launched at BAFTA in December 2019, the ceremony celebrates excellence in global production. The incoming makers & shakers Awards takes place on 7th December 2022, the final day of the annual FOCUS show in London. The awards are free to enter - and you can nominate yourself as well as your colleagues.

“We are very passionate about recognising, supporting and celebrating the fantastic achievements of the international production community, who work relentlessly to support the work of fellow creatives,” emphasises Jean-Frédéric Garcia, managing director of The Location Guide. “While traditional awards are fantastic at honouring our sector’s best creative work, these ceremonies tend to overlook the efforts of professionals who pioneer real change within the global screen industries. This is why the makers & shakers Awards was born: we understand the importance of celebrating the outstanding production work that takes place on the ground.”

Entries open on 17th of May. After two successful award ceremonies, the makers & shakers Awards will once again spotlight innovative and impactful contributions made by production professionals, freelancers, film commissions, government film liaison offices, studios, production services, support businesses and facilities. To qualify for an award, the work must have been completed between 1st January 2021 – 31st July 2022.

Our jury of leading international professionals - including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (UK), LMGI, PACT and winners from the past editions - are ready to judge entries across several categories:

  • Film Commission Initiative of the Year
  • Outstanding Creative Use of a Location
  • Production Tech Innovation of the Year
  • Initiative to Grow Local Industry
  • Sustainability Award
  • Shaker of the Year

Held at BAFTA Piccadilly in London, the makers & shakers Awards 2021 took place on 8 December 2021. The ceremony was presented by the hilarious comedian and long-suffering Crystal Palace fan Chloe Petts, and kindly supported by Neom, Cinema Tech, Maui County Film Office and Ouarzazate Film Commission from Morocco. Event highlights and our official list of 2021 winners are available here.
