Edem Wornoo signs to Ground Work’s commercial and music video roster
Writer and director Edem Wornoo has been signed to Ground Work. He will join the company's commercial and music video roster. Wornoo is known for his music videos with music heavyweights Dave, Fredo, Stormzy, Big Zuu and Wretch 32. Ground Work and Wornoo have already built a strong working relationship across several productions.
“Edem is easily one of the most talented people I’ve met,” emphasises Aaron Z. Willson, Founder and EP at Ground Work. “His commitment to craft, detail and his ambition to push the creative in every scenario is amazing. Added to all of that his positivity and kind nature are obvious to anyone who’s had the pleasure of working with him. I have no doubt we will create some fantastic work together and am looking forward to this next chapter.”
In thematic terms, Wornoo’s work follows street-level fantasies. He strives to draw out the magic in the people, places and things that he grew up around in South London. His recent short Butterfly Affect explores toxic masculinity’s emotional consequences for boys.
“New beginnings are a beautiful thing”, says Wornoo. “I’m growing into myself every day as a director and it’s a blessing to be able to do that with my friends at Ground Work. I love the fact that we share a passion for pushing artistic boundaries with good humans and even better vibes. We’ve already made some magical videos that I hold close to my heart and we have no plans of stopping anytime soon.”
In the same vein as other directors who are signed to Ground Work, Wornoo is represented for music videos by Claire Stubbs and Connie Meade at Mouthpiece. Mouthpiece was launched in 2020 by Stubbs, winner for Best Agent at the UKMVAs in 2020 and shortlisted again in 2021. Meade, meanwhile, has more than ten years of experience commissioning distinctive, award-winning videos for the likes of alt-J, Loyle Carner, Tom Misch, Marika Hackman, Olivia Dean and Lewis Capaldi. Mouthpiece is home to production companies Academy, Partizan and Spindle alongside Ground Work.
