Diamonds Are Forever BBQ Party hits Cannes Lions
The Gerety Awards celebrated the recent announcement of their shortlist with an Argentinian barbeque. The party took place at Cannes Lions 2022 thanks to support from hosts Tantor Films. Over 500 guests from 40 different countries joined the fun, honouring past and present judges as well as this year’s shortlist.
Guests were given a replica diamond brooch, saluting Frances Gerety’s famous slogan: “a Diamond is Forever.” However, when Zoë Red of Creatives for Climate entered the villa, she distinguished herself from other guests by choosing a slightly different brooch. This lucky selection meant that Zoë won a weekend getaway to one of the cities where Gerety held their judging sessions.
Meanwhile, Gerety co-founder Lucía Ongay interviewed Brave Spark Creative Studio’s Annalise Valentino and Emma McKernan from PR and content agency Smarts. Based in London and Belfast respectively, both Brave Spark and Smarts are agencies within the MSQ group who partnered with Gerety for this year’s BBQ.
Those who are interested in understanding why the shortlisted entries resonated with the Gerety Jury - and why these works have already started to pick up prizes on the 2022 award circuit - the Jury Insights are available to rewatch on demand now. The Grand Jury includes some of the advertising industry's most renowned and respected leaders, and the final winners will be announced Tuesday 6 September.
The Gerety Awards marks the first time that a specialist jury has been brought together to celebrate advertising through the female lens. All advertising, not just advertising made for women, is recognised by the ceremony. It is designed to create a benchmark that is relevant to the market reality, redefining the male-centric standards to which advertising has been traditionally held.
