Orlando Bloom to receive Humanitarian Award at the LMGI Awards
British actor and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Orlando Bloom will receive the Humanitarian Award at this year's LMGI Awards ceremony. Hosted by comedian Melissa Peterman, the ceremony will be take place on 27 August 2022 at the Los Angeles Centre Studios.
John Rakich, LMGI president and awards committee chair stated: “The LMGI proudly salutes Orlando Bloom in recognition of his incredible work with UNICEF and many other charities where he has consistently gone above and beyond as an active, engaged campaigner for real solutions to urgent global issues.”
As a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Bloom has exhibited efforts to bring awareness to the Ukrainian children forced to evacuate their country amidst the Russian invasion. His contribution and commitment to supporting children’s rights globally has garnered him this recognition. Instrumental to many charitable initiatives, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has been a dedicated UNICEF supporter since 2007 and became an ambassador in 2009. Previously recognised for his involvements, Bloom has been presented with the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award at the 2015 UNICEF Snowflake Ball and the 2015 BAFTA Britannia Humanitarian Award.
Bloom is know for also starring in the popular franchise and Academy Award-winning trilogy The Lord of the Rings. He has also starred in critically acclaimed independent features Retaliation and The Outpost, the latter being recognised by the National Board of Review as one of the 10 best independent films of 2020. Upcoming projects featuring Bloom include the recently wrapped product go and Ian and Eshom Nelm’s Red Right Hand, where he will star against Andle MacDowell, and the currently filming A24 feature Wizards! starring Pete Davidson and Naomi Scott.
Previously announced honourees for the upcoming event also include Martin Scorsese who will receive the Eva Monley Award for his support of location professionals, and location manager John Panzarella, Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient.
