Paramount+ announces launch date for Italy
The streaming service, Paramount+, announced their 15 September 2022 launch date for Italian distribution. Promising more than 8,000 hours’ worth of content, the platform will be the exclusive supplier of US shows in Italy, as well as providing a global programming slate including new Italian productions.
Marco Nobili, Executive Vice President and International General Manager of Paramount+ commented, “Paramount+ is rapidly expanding its global footprint, offering audiences worldwide an unbeatable content slate, with the biggest stars and most compelling global and local stories all together on one platform."
Paramount + will bring an exclusive slate of original content from the US and its roster of international partners. Productions include Tulsa King starring Sylvester Stallone, The Offer, a limited series with Miles Teller, Matthew Goode, and Juno Temple, 1883, Taylor Sheridan’s highly anticipated “Yellowstone” prequel; and upcoming series 1923, also from Sheridan, featuring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, and Halo, based on the iconic Xbox franchise.
“Italy not only has an incredible production history, from cult movies to TV series, but it is also a key market for the global expansion of Paramount+,” added Nobili. ““This launch, followed by Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France in the coming months will bring Paramount+ to all major European markets by the end of the year.”
Other global features that will be included in the viewing selection are UK dramas Sexy Beast and A Gentleman in Moscow, Spain’s Bose, Sinaloa’s and One Must Die from Mexico, France’s thriller Antoinette Serial Killer and Germany’s A Thin Line, The Sheikh (Der Scheich) and Simon Beckett’s Chemistry of Death.
Local Italian productions will also be added to the streaming platform. These will include Cicero , a series produced by Cattleya in collaboration with VIS, Paramount+ and RAI Fiction, 14 Days, a Paramount+ original Italian production, written and directed by Ivan Cotroneo, the Corpo Libero thriller series, a co-production by Indigo Film and Network Movie, and the previously announced productions Ti Mangio il Cuore and Miss Fallaci.
