Bottle Yard Studios brings BBC One’s Am I Being Unreasonable

BBC One’s newest comedy thriller Am I Being Unreasonable? started on Friday 23 September 2022. The show written by and starring Daisy May Cooper and real life best-friend Selin Hizli was shot at Bristol’s Bottle Yard Studios last year, bringing the talent from the West England region to the forefront of the production.

“Daisy May Cooper is one of the most important breakthrough West Country talents to have burst onto our screens in recent years, so it was our total pleasure to help her ‘keep it local’ for Am I Being Unreasonable?,” said Laura Aviles, Senior Bristol Film Manger. “The Bottle Yard Studios works hard to support regional film and TV production and also to provide a local home for projects made by talent from the region working on both sides of the camera. The creativity and identity of our region goes from strength to strength with every new title like this that hits our screens.”

The show follows the life of Nic, a conflicted mother played by Cooper and her son Ollie, portrayed by Lenny Rush, who find a glimpse of happiness with the arrival of Jen, played by Hizli. Award-winning Bristol born screen writer Jack Thorne lends his hand to executive producing along with production from Boffola Pictures and Lookout Point. Cast also includes Dustin Denri-Burns, Amanda Wilkin, David Fynn, Karla Crome, Jessica Hynes and more.

Aside from the well run Bottle Yard base, there is a wealthy array of city and rural location options within a relatively short radius, added Executive Producer Shane Allen. Filmed between December 2021 and February 2022, the Bottle Yard Studios provided their purpose-built sets for the six episodes of Am I Being Unreasonable?, providing for the interior shots. The largest dedicated facility in the West of England has shown plans of expansion following their announcement for an additional three stages, ready for use in Autumn 2022, to their already present eight. This is in conjunction with a GBP 12 million investment from the West of England Combined Authority.
